Cape Breton Island

Cape Breton Island

Introduction to Cape Breton Island

Cape Breton is the northernmost island of Nova Scotia.  This is one of the most popular tourist destinations, especially for those who are a bit adventurous. The major attraction of the island is Cape Breton Highlands National Park, located on the western portion. The beautiful saltwater lake, Bras d'Or Lake almost divides Cape Breton Island into two portions. The roads across the island are gorgeous and the vistas are striking and wild.

The Cabot Trail

Being on the island, you will hear about Cabot Trail over and over again. Cabot Trail is a roadway surrounding the national park, on the northwest portion of the island. The range of the roadway, which is named after John Cabot, is 300 kilometers.

Culture

Cultural aspects of Cape Breton Island are also quite significant. Cape Breton was mainly established by Highland Scots whose folks and family came out on the wrong side of revolt in opposition to the crown. The elder people of Cape Breton Island still bear that accent, especially in the remote villages. The folk music of Scottish-style is immensely popular here in Cape Breton Island.

Attractions

The best place to find accommodations and restaurants in Cape Breton Island is Baddeck. Baddeck is located in central portion of the island and its position is perfect for the day excursions. Tourists can easily access the best of attractions such as the reconstructed historic arrangement of Louisbourg and the national park from here. Also check out the west and central portions of the island to find some immaculate highlights. Southern portion near the Isle Madame and Port Hawkesbury is good but not as attractive as the other parts of the island. Apart from that, there are loads of recreations and fun activities scattered all over the Cape Breton Island. If you really want to have a great time, then plan your next vacation to Cape Breton Island.
