Highland Village Day
At Village Museum in Iona, the Highland Village Day concert takes place every yea. The combination of local talent and the backdrop of d’Or Lakes as its backdrop is a major attraction. The event takes place on the first Saturday of August.
Hike the Highlands Festival
Both fresh and experienced hikers enjoy this festival. This event takes place in September every year. Some of the guided hikes cover St. Anns Bay to Meat Cove.
Heart of the Highlands Triathlon
The Heart of the Highlands Triathlon generally takes place June, the event features sprint and Olympic distances of biking and swimming. It also included running all through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
The Celtic Colors International Festival
This is one of the most popular festivals in Cape Breton Island. The event takes place in October and feature programs like square dances in warm community halls to imposing concerts at various larger venues of the island. More than 300 artists from Scotland, the United States, Ireland, Britain, Canada and other places takes part in the Celtic Colors International Festival. These performers perform at more than thirty venues all over Cape Breton Island. The visitors are also invited to take part in the event and hence the atmosphere is just brilliant.
The Celtic Colors Festival takes place in October and thus numerous tourist visit Cape Breton during this time. However, the best time to visit the island is July to October.
